New FOLOU publication on refrigerated transport and mussel quality

18/06/2026

A new scientific publication has been released within the FOLOU project, focusing on the mussel use case study:

“Refrigerated transport modulates the health status and nutritional quality of Mediterranean mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis): a case study from the western Adriatic Sea.”

The study, with contributions from FOLOU partners Matteo Zarantoniello, Adriano Mancini, and Ike Olivotto, investigates how refrigerated transport affects the health status and nutritional quality of Mediterranean mussels.

The findings provide valuable insights into the role of post-harvest conditions in maintaining food quality and reducing potential losses along the supply chain. This work contributes to FOLOU’s efforts to better understand food loss factors and support evidence-based approaches for more sustainable food systems.
