How much wheat was lost in 2019 in Germany? Which commodity category has the largest share on food loss across Europe? Explore the data and find out through the FOLOU dashboard.
The FOLOU Dashboard and Repository provide complementary insights into food loss in Europe.
- The FOLOU Dashboard (see below) presents the quantitative dimension, allowing users to explore food loss ratios by commodity, commodity category, year and country.
- The FOLOU Repository complements the data of the Dashboard with qualitative information and reports, providing further context on food loss across Europe.
FOLOU Dashboard
The data displayed in the Dashboard bring together the available quantitative information collected and harmonised within the EU Food Loss Repository under the FOLOU project, creating a common resource for exploring and understanding food loss.
Dashboard features:
- Food Loss Ratio (%): the reported food that is lost during harvesting and post-harvesting (More information on the Food Loss Definition can be found in D4.1. and “Food Loss Definitions in Europe” of the Repository).
- Commodity Category: “Fruits and Vegetables”, “Roots, Tubers and Oil Crops”, “Grains and Pulses”, “Meat and Dairy Products”, “Aquaculture and Fisheries”. The distribution of the commodities followed the guidelines of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013.
- Commodity: All the commodities that were identified during the data collection. More information on the included commodities can be found in the Deliverable D1.2.
- Country: All countries of the EU plus Iceland, Great Britain, Norway and Switzerland. The dashboard includes only the countries for which data was identified.
- Data Quality Categorisation: The collected data were categorised according to their proximity to the FOLOU Food Loss Definitional Framework, with A being the higher quality data and D the lowest. More information can be found in the report “Data Sources” of the Repository.
