On May 19, 2026 the FOLOU Twinning Regions (TWR) Program held its 3rd plenary meeting online. The meeting was participated by the 7 Twinning Regions entities that joined the program in March 2025, and by FOLOU partners involved in the implementation of the collaboration. During the meeting, TWR entities discussed the work performed in the past 12 months, and the challenges encountered during the process. Participating entities highlighted the difficulty in getting farmers interested in the subject, and a lack of a legal framework that would, on the contrary, support a more committed multi-actor approach in food losses measurement and reporting.
The FOLOU Twinning Regions Program will close in October 2026. In the past 12 months, involved entities tested the quantification methodology developed by Espigoladors, carried out field and warehouse food loss measurements, and engaged farmers and academia in dialogue on food losses quantification.
