National Stakeholder Workshop in Barcelona to Advance Food Loss Prevention

03/06/2026

On 14 May 2026, a Spanish stakeholder workshop was held in Barcelona, bringing together around 45 participants from across the agri-food value chain. Attendees included representatives from public administrations, primary production, industry associations, the commercial sector, and research organisations, offering a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities related to food loss.

During the workshop, the Spanish FOLOU partners — the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food (DARP), Fundació Espigoladors, BETA Technological Centre, CIRCE, and the Waste Agency of Catalonia (ARC) — presented the project’s key results.

A central part of the workshop was a participatory session in which attendees shared their insights on the food loss prevention recommendations currently being developed within FOLOU. This exchange aimed to ensure that the proposed measures are both practical and relevant.

The workshop marks another important step in FOLOU’s efforts to engage stakeholders and co-create solutions that support the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient food system.
