FOLOU at the RETASTE Conference 2025 in Athens

Last week (24-27 September 2025), FOLOU partners UNIBO, CIRCE, PROMAN, and BETA TC participated in the RETASTE Conference in Athens, an international forum dedicated to rethinking food resources, losses, and waste.

The FOLOU consortium presented the project and shared results from several work packages, both in-person and online. Topics included:

• Understanding and prioritising food loss drivers in the primary sector
• Food Consumption and Online Behaviour through social media analysis and models
• Food loss–focused policy analysis state and future challenges in the EU
• Monitoring food losses through the regional, national and EU Food Loss registry
• A Food Loss sustainability tool to assess the environmental, economic and social impacts of food losses

RETASTE brings together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and innovators to explore pathways towards more sustainable food systems. By contributing FOLOU’s evidence and tools, our consortium adds to the ongoing dialogue on reducing food losses, particularly at the primary production stage.
