Sustainable and Fair Food Systems: reducing the climate footprint

By the end of 2023, the European Commission will put forward the proposal for a legislative framework for sustainable food systems (FSFS), one of the flagship initiatives of the Farm to Fork Strategy. Its goal is to accelerate and facilitate the transition towards more sustainable food systems that are based on environmental, social and economic criteria. Thus, the promotion of policy coherence at EU and regional level is key.

Catalonia has developed the Sustainable Agricultural Production model (PAS), which allows to evaluate, classify and recognize Catalan agricultural companies according to their level of sustainable production, based on environmental, social and economic criteria.

In this event, the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the EU will provide a forum for discussion on the challenges and opportunities linked to the transition to sustainable food systems. Diverse European regions will present their production models as best practices in order to inspire one another and create the bases for the sustainable food systems of the future.

ACR+ presented the FOLOU project and discussed with the representatives of DACC on the FOLOU activities in Food Losses quantification. This in relation to the PAS (Sustainable Agricultural Production) tool being tested/adopted by some farmers in Catalunya in primary production.
